Okay, so I'm doing a 4 day devotional from YouVersion called "One Word", and the goal is to simply come up with a 1 Word vision for 2015 instead of making New Year's Resolutions that we never keep anyway.

Timely blog entry/challenge from you, Dave. The one word that kept popping out at me while reflecting on 2014 and focusing on 2015 is "invest." The scripture for me that touches on that...Matthew 25:14-30.

Matthew 25:14-30, or the parable of the talents, has become one of my favorites and based on the abundance God has given us by putting us where we are, we have to recognize and respond to that awesome responsibility. Anything less is a wasted life!

2014 was not up there on my list of great years. However, that is my view when I look at things plainly. No one is gonna say they had a great year when they lose someone unexpectedly and too early. But when looked at with God, you take a very different view. There is still grieving, sadness, and many questions...There is also maturity and peace. The 'drama' is gone. There is no more worrying about what will happen next with the 'Fam'. It was always a tense situation. I don't have that anymore...

Steven, well stated. did you start reading that happiness book? It is blowing my mind. Relating to your post, it talks about how negative circumstances remind us that this world is broken and we won't find perfect happiness here. It points us to the eternal and why we need God. Also, we can only truly appreciate the good in life when we've experienced the opposite. Then we really know the difference and can enjoy the moments that are slices of heaven on earth!

Hey Steve...very profound entry on your one word. Thank you for sharing. At a minimum, I know you will use your journey to impact those who have unfortunately faced a similar situation. Sincerely, Matt.

Well this is way more difficult than it seems Dave. Obviously it is going to be different for every one of us. For the me the One Word is: TRUST

PRAYER, FRIENDSHIP, JOURNEY, TRUST! Add these 4 words and a Tilly One-sy, and it doesn't get much better. Brad, your giving heart, humility, your testimony, and the fact you are always there jumping in to help with an action or an idea. is inspiring to me. You have what it takes brother. Keep on trusting because God is working in you!

Good stuff Brent! Thanks for jumping in. I think it will be important for us to remind each other about our One Word throughout the year. Might also be helpful to put it on a screen saver, on the fridge, in the bathroom, whatever we need to be reminded.

Shalom Loren! That is really cool. I know the word but never had it explained the way you did. Very powerful word for the year and beyond! Thanks.

My word is LISTEN. I feel a calling to still my heart and listen to the Lord's calling on me, and to respond as directed.

There's always a rebel in the crowd! When I think of "Stand" it reminds me of the REAL man theme, starting with rejecting passivity. Thanks BK!

My word is "fight". Fight to reject passivity, fight to stay in the word, fight to improve my marriage. Fight for other people who cannot fight for themselves. It took some time to get here but this really connects for me and my journey for 2015. GOD bless to all my brothers.

Thanks Larry! You hit a key word for men. I'm looking at my wall right now. REAL Man = Reject Passivity, Engage with God, Accept Responsibility, Lead with Courage. And right next to it is the Key Pillars of Manhood = Integrity, Purity, Hope, Love, Faith, Family. You have what it takes and I'm honored to be on the JOURNEY (Steve Mac's word) with you.
